Fishing Information
Captain Mike fishes the Mississippi Gulf Coast on the Break Away year round. Originating from Point Cadet Marina in Biloxi as a full time captain and licensed fishing guide with over 30 years experience fishing. In the winter, November, December & January, we fish south Mississippi's many protected and calm coastal bays, rivers and bayous around Biloxi for speckled or white trout, redfish and sheeps head. In early spring we begin venturing out to the islands usually around the end of February or the 1st of March to bottom fish for sheeps head, mangrove snapper and grouper. We also fish around the islands for speckled trout, whiting, small shark and Spanish mackerel. As the weather continues to warm up, the larger migratory species begin to show up around the middle of April or the 1st of May. These species consist of Cobia, Big Red Fish and large sharks along our south Mississippi shores. We can fish for these species in a variety of different ways, either by anchoring and chumming at one of our island passes or cuts or over our wrecks. As the weather heats up, so does the fishing. After hurricane season - the middle of August until the middle of September, the big fish start "Hoggin' Up" for winter, traveling in big schools eating everything in sight. We have caught Big Redfish, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle & large sharks non-stop for four hours. The light tackle fishing for white trout is unbelievable this time of year. As the weather grows colder the fish return to the bays and bayous and so does Capt. Mike and the cycle starts all over again.
